He mentions that the last recorded outburst was on 1991 Dec 19 although he suspects outbursts in 1992 may have been missed. Taichi Kato, Japan e-mails that the current outburst was also independently recorded by M.Iida, Nagano, Japan on 1993 Feb 24.587 at visual magnitude 12.1. 1215-17 CRV (=Tombaugh's Star) Taichi Kato e-mails that he recorded the star at V=17.2 on 1993 Feb 20.768UT using CCD. Dr.Steve Howell in Hawaii, who generated the original alert to AAVSO advises us that he noted it at about magnitude 12 on 1993 Feb 16.54UT. Q1993/024 Jean-Claude Merlin, France e-mails that he has noted a star about 12' eastward from FU Orionis at RA 5h 43.52m DEC +09 01.4' (1950) which may vary. He finds the star absent on Atlas Stellarum to a limit of B=14.5 on 1967 Dec 05.99UT. However on his photographs of 1980 Dec 28.91UT and 1993 Feb 15.88UT he estimates it at mv=15.5, mv=12.5 respectively. The former exposure was on 103aF and the later secured using the 0.40-m reflector plus image intensifier RTC XX 1390. Does anyone have photographs showing this object please?
