Telephone:(0256)471074.Int:+44256471074 Telex:265871(MONREF G) Quote"72:MAG60138 ATT G.HURST"in FIRST line. ------------------------------------------------------------------- SUPERNOVA 1988P IN ANON GALAXY C.Pollas, Observatoire de la Cote d'Azur, reports his discovery with the CERGA Schmidt of a possible SN at: RA 15h29m57.07s DEC +01 47'33.2"(1950) The object is 4.4"E and 3.7"N of the nucleus of an anonymous galaxy. On June 9.97 and 14.98UT the SN was at mpg 18.5. IAUC 4614 TAV 0226+39 M.Mobberley, Bury St Edmunds, has submitted a negative of the area of TAV 0226+39 taken on 1988 June 13.04UT with a 0.36-m reflector on Tri-X. The photograph is heavily fogged and the object was not recorded to a limit of magnitude 13.3. According to AAVSO Circular 210, T.Hager (USA?) reports a positive visual observation on 1988 May 12 at 12.7. Mark Kidger, Tenerife, telexes that Phil Charles and Paul Murdin, La Palma, centred the telescope on the field on June 10, 0.5 hour into dawn when it was 26 degrees up and in the direction of sunrise. The television screen was blank owing to sky brightness. They hope to make a further attempt with the Herschel telescope during the next few weeks. V1819 CYGNI The star designated 'T' on the TA chart is a double and unsuitable as a comparison star. Sequence revision: Q,12.7; R,13.3; S,13.6; T,14.1; U,14.4 The new star T is about 2mm South of R (using scale on TA chart 860927) and U is just north of Q. The revised B and C charts are now available (rev880618). NOVA VULPECULAE 1987 The existing chart detail is insufficient to ensure certain identification of this nova. A revised C chart (880618) is now available. S.Lubbock, Bridgend, e-mails the following observations: June 13.98UT, 13.9; 14.97, 14.0.
