SN 1999cl in NGC4501 (= M88)

KAIT discovers SN 1999cl in M88. IAUC 7815 announced the discovery of a moderately bright SN in M88. The discovery was made on an unfiltered image taken on May 29 when the SN was at mag 16.4. A type Ia SN in this galaxy might be expected to reach magnitude 14 and so extensive visual and CCD photometry is encouraged. At mid-northern latitudes the Virgo/Coma area is well placed in the southwest at the end of nautical twilight.
