SN 1998by in anonymous galaxy
This apparent 17th magnitude supernova was discovered by Tom Boles on
only the second night out with his new AP-7 CCD camera. The discovery, Tom's
third, was made on exposures taken with a 14" f/11 SCT for the U.K.
Nova/Supernova Patrol on Apr. 9.120 and 13.088 UT. The bright galaxy is
IC 1254 but the SN is probably associated with the much fainter
galaxy just to the south. South is up in
